Solid CMN Hospitals Miracle Balloon Campaign Comes To A Close
Rite Aid Introduces Platforms for Donating via Text Message and Facebook
Rite Aid’s 2012 goal to raise $5 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals appears well within reach. The company’s annual Miracle Balloon campaign ended May 19, and based on the latest figures available, contributions have already topped $4.2 million. The Rite Aid team will now hold additional fundraising events throughout the year as the company eyes its 2012 goal.
Once again, Rite Aid supplier partners have played an important role in CMNH fundraising by funding coupons for the $1 Miracle Balloons sold in stores. This year’s coupons featured $7 in combined savings on items such as GE CFL Lightbulbs, Mrs. Fields Cookies, Lysol Disinfectant Wipes, L’Oreal Nail Enamel, Kleenex and Crest Pro Health Toothpaste. In addition, supplier partners continue to support special community fundraisers held throughout the chain, including the corporate car wash to be held in June.
“As Rite Aid associates, we look forward to our fundraising campaign for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals every year. It’s just one way we demonstrate our core value of being a caring neighbor,” says John Standley, Rite Aid president and CEO. “We thank all of our supplier partners who have supported our efforts to help hospitals and families in the communities we serve.”
This year, Rite Aid leveraged mobile technology and social media to increase campaign participation. For the first time, customers could text “RAKIDS” to 50555 to donate $5 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals using their cell phones. In addition, Rite Aid’s Facebook page offered fans a “donate” button directing them to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital donation site.
Since 1994, Rite Aid has raised more than $51 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
