Sales Manager Maria Abadia of Garden House takes her best shot at avoiding the flu from Pharmacy District Manager Hemanshu Parikh at the 2012 Annual Supplier Conference.

The lines were long but moved quickly as Rite Aid’s supplier partners signed up for free flu shots at the Annual Supplier Conference held Sept. 11-12 in Harrisburg, Pa. Over 200 flu shots were administered by Rite Aid Certified Immunizing Pharmacists during the conference.

The vaccinations were offered free to supplier partners as a gesture of our commitment to wellness and appreciation for their support.

After coming down with a bad case of the flu last year, Windsor Foods’ Director of Sales Steve Horine was one of the first in line to be immunized. “This is a great opportunity. I certainly don’t want to get the flu again this year,” he commented. “Offering this clinic sends the message that Rite Aid is looking out for its suppliers and really cares about our health.”

Supplier partners are encouraged to call Pharmacy Clinical Services Specialist Becky Kintz at 717-214-2517 or email rkintz@riteaid.com to schedule a convenient on-site immunization clinic at their offices or company facilities.

According to Mindi Goins, vice president of sales for The Dowell Group, Rite Aid provides a flu shot clinic at her company’s office each year. “These on-site clinics are so convenient,” she says. “Rite Aid makes it easy for us to help our employees fight the flu.”

Nearly 1.5 million flu shots were administered during last year’s flu season and Rite Aid is on track to surpass that mark this year. Our field leaders and store teams have been even more aggressive in reaching out to local businesses, senior centers and community organizations to let them know how Rite Aid can easily provide flu shots to their employees, residents and members.

“We are pleased to be able to help our supplier partners stay well this flu season and want to encourage them to take advantage of our convenient, on-site immunization clinics,” says Executive Vice President of Pharmacy Robert Thompson. “By providing these services, we form stronger relationships with our supplier partners and demonstrate our commitment to their health and wellbeing.”

Flu can lead to serious health complications, including hospitalization or even death. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that everyone older than six months of age receive a flu shot every year.
