Rite Aid’s New wellness65+ Tour Offers Free Medicare Wellness Screenings to Seniors
The wellness65+ loyalty program continues to be a key initiative for Rite Aid, as it looks to engage seniors and educate them about the many health-related services we have to offer.
To raise additional awareness of this exciting program, Rite Aid has launched a new wellness65+ mobile screening tour that gives seniors a convenient opportunity to receive their free Annual Wellness Visits, which are fully covered once a year for those who have been enrolled in Medicare Part B for at least 12 months.
This new tour carries forward the momentum from last year’s wellness65+ Mobile Tour that reached more than 13,000 people at over 250 community events across the country. A key difference is that events for this latest tour will be held at Rite Aid stores, providing a significant opportunity to drive additional foot traffic.
The six-month tour kicked off Sept. 2 at store #11099 in Huntingdon Valley, Pa., and will visit 100 stores throughout the Mid-Atlantic in markets such as Philadelphia, Pa., and Harrisburg, Pa.
At each stop, seniors can visit a 40-foot Mobile Health Clinic and receive their free Medicare Annual Wellness Visit from a board-certified physician. Annual Wellness Visits were established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in 2011 to help beneficiaries maintain and proactively improve their health.
Rite Aid’s wellness65+ Medicare Wellness Screening Tour visits store 11019 in Dillsburg, Pa., Oct. 10.
Each annual wellness visit includes:
- A written, personalized prevention plan that includes easy-to-follow exercise, nutritional and lifestyle guidelines
- Medical and family history reviews
- Medication and physical ability reviews
- Height, weight and blood pressure screenings
- Discussion of risk for developing chronic illnesses and diseases
- Potential recommendations for additional preventive screenings or tests for the early detection of chronic illnesses
After completing the Annual Wellness Visit, seniors have the opportunity to speak with a Rite Aid pharmacist and receive a flu shot as appropriate. Rite Aid is also giving participating wellness65+ members a free $10 Rite Aid gift card. Customers who are not wellness65+ members have the opportunity to enroll to receive the many benefits of the program as well as the $10 Rite Aid gift card.
“This tour reaches seniors near their homes and provides an easy and convenient way for them to take advantage of their Medicare wellness benefits and the important services Rite Aid can offer,” says Rite Aid Vice President of Marketing Craig Riner. “These services are part of our continuing commitment to help seniors live healthier lives.”
For this new tour, Rite Aid has partnered with HealthFair, the national leader in mobile health screening services, and Vatica Health, a leading developer of software specially designed to facilitate the Medicare Annual Wellness Visit.
To date, approximately 2 million seniors have enrolled in wellness65+ since its launch in June 2013.
Key benefits include a free pharmacist consultation, which is designed to give seniors the opportunity to get to know their pharmacist, ask questions and learn about Rite Aid’s various pharmacy services. Another popular feature is “wellness65+ Wednesday,” a chainwide wellness event held the first Wednesday of each month that give members 20 percent off nearly every item in the store.
