Rite Aid Converting More Stores To Wellness Format
Rite Aid’s ground-breaking Wellness format continues to make its way into additional locations as the company converted 159 stores by the third quarter’s end and plans to have 275 open by the end of the fiscal year.
Wellness stores feature hundreds of new wellness related items, a fresh interior design and greater emphasis on clinical pharmacy services such as immunizations and diabetes care.
These stores also have Wellness Ambassadors, specially trained associates dedicated to helping customers with their health and wellness needs. Wellness Ambassadors have a workstation in the center of the store, an iPad with specialized wellness apps and the ability to print coupons.
In addition, the Wellness store design emphasizes the pharmacy with a wooden pathway that leads directly to the pharmacy area. A greeter sign near the front of the store lists all of the pharmacy services available at the store. The Wellness Ambassador position strengthens this emphasis on pharmacy by serving as a bridge between the front end and pharmacy.
Members of Rite Aid’s senior leadership team say the Wellness format will continue to evolve as the company converts additional stores and learns more about which features resonate with customers and where opportunities exist for further improvement.
