Jennifer Beatty and Jamie Shover Take Home Rite Aid’s Top Category Management Awards

At its annual Supplier Conference held Sept. 28-30 in Hershey, Pa., Rite Aid recognized the outstanding contributions of its Category Management teams and announced the winners of the 2015 Category Manager of the Year and Associate Category Manager of the Year awards. CEO of Rite Aid Stores and President of Rite Aid Corporation Ken Martindale joined Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer Darren Karst and Executive Vice President of Merchandising and Distribution Tony Montini in presenting the awards. Rite Aid’s 2015 Category Manager of the Year is Jennifer Beatty, category manager for first aid, foot care, eye care, family planning, feminine hygiene and home health care.

Jennifer has excelled this year in driving innovation and fostering collaboration while also generating sales increases of more than 5 percent and a profit increase of over 7 percent.

“Jen is always pushing to achieve greater results. For example, she assumed the leadership role in implementing the SEAL merchandising concept and quickly expanded it into all of her categories,” said Montini. “She is a creative merchant who strives to bring innovation with each merchandising revision. This has been a great year for Jennifer in generating sales and margin increases and leading our innovation effort through creativity.”

Finalists for Category Manager of the Year included Jen Roush, category manager for OTC, and Cathy Furtado, category manager for skin care, bath, deodorant, sun care and apparel.

Associate Category Manager Jamie Shover, who manages the vitamin, diet, adult nutrition and nutrition bar categories, was named the 2015 Associate Category Manager of the Year.

The vitamin category is a strategic focus area for Rite Aid and Jamie’s leadership in this category has been invaluable. She consistently demonstrates a high level of commitment to meeting the needs of Rite Aid’s customers and working with the 150 supplier partners she manages.

“Jamie’s promotional planning is data driven and she challenges our supplier partners to properly support their promotions, while collaborating with them to create Profit Plan opportunities,” said Montini. “She played a key role in developing condition-specific merchandising concepts and creating an optimal assortment in the vitamin category to drive sales. Jamie’s tireless efforts and willingness to meet every challenge head-on led to outstanding results.”

Finalists for Associate Category Manager of the Year were Clarissa Sullivan, who manages the seasonal, automotive, light bulbs and hardware categories, and Becky Hannon, who manages the warehouse grocery and snacks, DSD snacks and ice cream categories.
