CMN Presents Rite Aid Associate With Prestigious Award
When Ricki Hackworth arrived at Disney World for the annual Children’s Miracle Network celebration, she had no clue she’d end up on stage with San Francisco 49ers legend Steve Young to receive the prestigious Jim Hart Award for outstanding service to CMN.
But that’s exactly what happened to Ricki, whose devotion to helping organize the Wilsonville, Ore. Distribution Center’s annual plant sale and other events was a big reason why the facility raised more than $14,000 for CMN, the most of any Rite Aid distribution center during the 2010 spring campaign.
Ricki says she fought back tears as she received her award, which made Rite Aid the first company to win two CMN sponsorship recognition awards since they were introduced in 2007. A few years ago, Rite Aid Associate Buddy Hazelton won a sponsorship recognition award, which was renamed the Jim Hart Award in honor of a revered CMN supporter who died earlier this year.
“There’s no one more deserving of this honor than Ricki,” says distribution center General Manager Joe Keys. “She puts in countless hours of her time to ensure our campaign is a success. She is amazing when it comes to her organizational skills. Her positive, upbeat demeanor radiates through the ranks and makes people want to participate.”
While the plant sale alone brought in $11,000 for CMN, Ricki also helps plan associate visits to the local CMN hospital in Portland and works with the distribution center’s CMN committee to hold a Miracle Balloon window-design contest.
Ricki says she was honored to receive the Jim Hart Award and thankful for the support that distribution center associates give each year to CMN. “I wouldn’t have been there receiving that award without all of the generous help of our CMN committee and the Wilsonville associates.”
