Category Management Team Builds Speed, Collaboration, Innovation
Promotions, New Hires and New Assignments AnnouncedRite Aid recently announced several promotions, hires and new assignments for its Category Management team as the group looks to build on the recent positive momentum it has generated for Rite Aid’s front-end business.
Executive Vice President of Merchandising Tony Montini views these new assignments as a great opportunity to build upon the team’s recent success while strengthening its culture of speed, collaboration and innovation.
“We have a talented Category Management team here at Rite Aid, and one of the ways we can continue to grow and develop is by giving our associates new challenges and welcoming new colleagues with fresh ideas,” Montini says. “I’m really pleased with what we’ve been able to accomplish here over the past few years, and excited about how these promotions, new hires and new assignments will help us take the next step in our transformation.”

Category Manager – Retirements
Two managers in Category Management have announced their retirement: Kathy Horton and Marti Cucinotta. “I want to personally thank them for being a part of my team for so many years and for all of their work and dedication to Rite Aid,” said Montini. “It has truly been a pleasure working with them and I wish them an enjoyable retirement.”
Category Manager – New Assignment
Dave Avery, the current Category Manager of First Aid and Woman’s Health has transferred to the Baby and Personal Care category. “I want to thank Dave for all of his wonderful work as category manager in First Aid and look forward to working with him on the Baby and Personal Care assignment,” said Montini.
New Category Managers
Susan Bivens has been promoted to Category Manager of Hair Care. Susan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics from Wilson College. She has worked for Giant Stores and for Rite Aid in positions of increasing responsibility. Susan started with Rite Aid as a merchandise specialist in Health and Beauty Care.
Jen Beatty has been promoted to Category Manager of First Aid and Women’s Health. Jen has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Susquehanna University. She has worked for Bon-Ton, Ernst & Young and at Rite Aid in positions with increasing responsibility. Jen started with Rite Aid as a Buyer and then became an Associate Category Manager.
Diane Ober has been promoted to Category Manager of Vitamins/Diet/Nutritional/GNC. Diane has an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Community College of Allegheny County. She has worked for Dick’s Sporting Goods, GNC and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centers in positions of increasing responsibility. Diane started with Rite Aid as an Associate Category Manager.
Catherine Furtado has rejoined Rite Aid as Category Manager of Beauty and Skin Care. Cathy received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Saint Joseph’s College in Maine. Cathy started her retail career as a store manager for Brooks drugstore. She was then promoted into the positions of district store manager and category manager for beauty. She joined Rite Aid in 2007 and has recently worked for Duane Reade as a Category Manager and as an account executive for Crossmark/MPG.
Nick Nichols has joined Rite Aid as Category Manager of Candy. Nick earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Carolina State University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina. He started his retail career as a store manager, replenishment buyer and assistant category manager for Food Lion. He has worked at Family Dollar Stores and The Pantry as a category manager and most recently as national account manager for food broker JMK.
Rick Glomb has joined Rite Aid as Category Manager of Photo. Rick received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Rick has worked extensively in the photo category in positions such as a technical sales representative and manager of technical operations of photo for Eckerd Corporation. Rick most recently was Vice President of Business Development for Lucidiom since 2005.
New Associate Category Managers
William J. Case has been promoted to the position of Associate Category Manager of Photo. Bill received an Associate Degree in Photographic Technology from Staples Technical College in Minnesota. He has worked at Rite Aid in positions of increasing responsibility starting as a Photo Lab Manager and becoming a Divisional Technical Photo Manager. Bill most recently was National Technical Manager of Photo.
Julie Schreiber-Wirsing has been promoted to Associate Category Manager of Cosmetics. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston. Julie started working for Rite Aid as a shift supervisor. She was then promoted to administrator of front-end pricing. She continued in positions of increasing responsibility to include analyst of front-end pricing and most recently as a senior analyst of front-end pricing.
Tricia Zyla has been promoted to Associate Category Manager of Hair Care. Tricia received a Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Merchandising Management from the Fashion Institute of Technology – State University of New York. She has worked for Abercrombie and Fitch, Rebecca Romero, and Steven Alan Showroom in New York City. Prior to joining Rite Aid, Tricia worked for Chico’s FAS as a merchandise planning analyst. For Rite Aid, she has worked as an inventory analyst and replenishment buyer.
Jamie Shover has rejoined Rite Aid as Associate Category Manager of Vitamins. Jamie received a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from West Virginia University. She has worked for the Bon-Ton as a senior assistant buyer and as an allocations analyst for Rite Aid. She most recently worked for The Dowell Group as a sales support manager.
