Bill Renz Takes Reins as New Group Vice President of Consumables and Photo
Rite Aid’s Bill Renz, a 16-year veteran of Rite Aid, was recently promoted to group vice president of consumables and photo. He brings a unique perspective and a broad range of industry experience to his new position, having worked in nearly every category in the retail drugstore industry — for companies such as Gray Drug-Fair, Sherwin Williams, Circuit City and Office Max — before taking over as director of Rite Aid’s General Merchandise category in 1998.

Bill, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from Bowling Green State University in Northwestern Ohio, also served as Vice President, General Merchandise and Divisional Vice President of Consumables before moving into his current role in 2014. He leads a team that includes Senior Director of Grocery Bob Serafin and Category Managers Brian Shanahan, Paul Harrington, Marie Read, Matt Boyer and Nick Nichols.
According to Bill, one of his main goals in this new position is to ensure that Rite Aid customers have everything they need to make informed shopping decisions. “As our company evolves on our wellness journey, so have our customers,” he says. “We need to do the best job we can to provide them with a selection of products that includes healthy choices and to educate them to help them make better and healthier selections.”
Bill thanks Rite Aid supplier partners for their support through the years, saying, “I can’t stress enough how important the support of our supplier partners has been to us. They were there for us through the tough times and, now, there’s no limit to what we can accomplish together.”
